YMCA Day Camp is a curriculum based summer program designed to keep your child active and safe throughout the summer.  Character development plays a big role in our camps.  Respect, responsibility, honesty and caring are values we use on a daily basis with our campers.  You can rest assure that your child will be in a safe and nurturing environment that offers a different activity for him/her to participate in every hour of the day. Packets must be filled out in entriety! Please make sure to have packets done, BEFORE registering. Download a printable packet here.

  • OUTDOOR FUN

    Fun and games are in store, and time outdoors soaking up the sun while getting exercise and making friendships are all part of the camp experience at the YMCA.

  • SWIM LESSONS

    Swim lessons and learning safe swimming practices are included in YMCA Summer Day Camp curriculum. Each child will receive swim lessons at no additional charge.

  • COMMUNITY EXPLORATION

    YMCA Summer Day Camp includes field trips around town; hiking, visiting local parks and trails and more are in store for your kid when they spend their summer at the Y!

WEEKLY THEMES

Weekly day camp themes create an atmosphere of fun and learning at the same time. The themes guide the weekly activities; arts & crafts , nature activities, games, contests, team building games, speakers and field trips.

SUMMER CAMP HANDBOOK

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • YMCA Childcare offers care for children ages 5 – 12 years old.

  • Summer Camp operates Monday - Friday from 7 am-6 pm at the Southside VA Family YMCA

  • Campers are encouraged to pack swim stuff, snacks & lunch (with NO nut products), closed-toe shoes, reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and bug spray if wanted.

  • Summer Camp is open to all families in the surrounding communities! We are For All!

  • Yes! Participants are invited to take part in our FREE Group Swim Lessons and open swim every day!

  • We will need a completed registration packet along with a copy of each child’s physical and immunization record (signed by a doctor) and a copy of your child's birth certificate. These items can be downloaded and viewed on our website. Required completed forms are due one week prior to the first day a child will attend the program.

  • Field Trips are included in the camp rate! Campers will get a 'one of a kind' camp shirt that is to be worn on field trip days! Parents are encouraged to have their camper(s) at the YMCA by 9am on all camp days!
